28 October 2020How to Clear a Blocked Toilet
Our engineers at KD Drainage attended our domestic client’s site to investigate reports of a blocked toilet in a recently built flat.
KD Drainage removed the toilet to gain access to the shared soil-vent pipe and electro-mechanical machinery was used to clear the blocked toilet.
The toilet was then reinstated and was checked to be fully functioning again.
If you experience a blocked toilet or any other blockage, KD Drainage are here to help!

How to Clear a Blocked Toilet
If the issue is small, there is a possibility that you may be able to clear a blocked drain or blocked toilet yourself using a plunger or a hand-held small drain snake.
You can help prevent blocked drains completely through a planned preventative maintenance contract.
However, in the instance of a severe blockage, you will need a visit from one of KD Drainage’s specialist engineers.
Using a Plunger
If your toilet has become blocked by large amounts of debris and water will not flow through, a plunger may be your best option.
First, you must allow the water level to drop, especially if you have been trying to flush the blockage and the water level has risen.
Insert a flange plunger into the toilet ensuring that the ring is inserted directly into the drain opening, sealing any air inside and increasing the suction power.
This will allow you to push and pull the handle of the plunger for 20 seconds without lifting it from the drain opening, clearing the blockage.
If this does not work, contact KD Drainage.
Using a Drain Snake
Drain snakes are a flexible, spring steel wire used by drainage engineers to dislodge any clogs in a plumbing system or blocked toilet that often cannot be dislodged by using a plunger alone.
They twist around the pipework to catch and remove any items that may be trapped in your drainage system. You can buy small drain snakes online or in a shop, however, if your blockage cannot be removed by using a plunger it is recommended that you get expert advice from one of our engineers at KD Drainage.
Planned Preventative Maintenance
Planned preventative maintenance contracts are scheduled regular checks on your drainage infrastructure to ensure everything is flowing smoothly and reduces your chances of a failed drainage system.
We offer 3-month, 6-month and 12- month planned preventative maintenance contracts, offering you long-term protection from the dangers of a failed drainage system or blocked drain.
At KD Drainage, our planned preventative maintenance programmes are specifically designed to cater to your individual drainage needs, offering you a more effective and economical way of managing your plumbing infrastructure, and drainage costs.
